Well here’s to another summer week in the books. Sweet Jesus this was one hot week in Warsaw. Temperatures were well into the high 30’s. Next week should be cooling down a bit. For our dog Harvey cooler temperatures can’t come soon enough. There’s a few things going on this weekend. It’s a long weekend here in Warsaw and on Saturday there’s going to be a neat military parade with tanks, trucks, helicopter and fighter jet flybys. Should be cool. Sunday is probably going to be a picnic in the park. There’s a cool local place in Warsaw called Picnic in the Park. Funny enough it’s exactly that…a picnic in the park. Every Sunday throughout the summer this small hidden spot is where this event goes down. Live music, mini pools for kids, plenty of beer and booze, food trucks, kids games, face painting and much more. It’s pretty neat considering nothing like this would be allowed in North America. Well here’s this weeks round up:
Mark Sisson from Mark’s Daily Apple talked about why he paddle boards and why maybe some should give it a try. I can actually relate to this. I tried paddle boarding when I worked in the Maldives. For me it was an alternative to surfing since the Maldives isn’t exactly the ideal place for a novice surfer with the razor sharp coral and all. I had tons of fun and I wish I lived closer to a warmer body of water to continue paddle boarding. Mark also went on to write an interesting piece about GMO safety.
William Imbo at BoxLife Magazine talked about 5 Bad Workout Habits You Need to Break. Yup I might be guilty of a couple of them.
Buzz Bishop over at Dad Camp wrote about how David Beckham perfectly smacked down Judgy Judgersons in an Instagram post. Well done Mr. Beckham.
John Kinnear over at Ask Your Dad Blog wrote a hilarious piece about 5 children’s books that don’t exist but should.
Steve Kamb over at Nerd Fitness gave a lesson on touching our toes like Gumby. Since starting CrossFit this is one area I REALLY need to improve on. My flexibility and mobility.
Barbell Shrugged posted an interesting post discussing how a lot of people make up their mind about how they’ll perform in a workout before they even touch their first piece of equipment.
Well that should be it for this week. Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend wherever you are.
Keep the blue side up.
