While walking up to one of our favourite restaurants in Warsaw my wife was looking down at her phone and enthusiastically said: “Man she just destroyed today’s WOD” (I’ll explain what a WOD is in a soon to be posted Crossfit primer)
“How did you know that girls time, you didn’t even go to Crossfit today?” I said.
“They usually post everyone’s workout times online at the end of the day” she said.
Hmmm. Now that peaked my interest. I had no idea that most Crossfit gyms posts peoples times. Little did I know a lot of them post everyones times online at the end of the day, so you can either marvel or laugh…well no one really laughs I’m guess. Some places even record your times in their systems so you can see if you’re improving or not. I thought all people did at these Crossfit places was dress in the latest neon fashion, run around, grunt and squeal like animals while high five’n like idiots. Well, I figured I’d give this thing a try. I’ve got some pretty healthy bench, deadlft and squat numbers. I figured I’d destroy any workout thrown my way and then I could comfortably get back to my traditional gym routine while continuing to make fun of Crossfit and my wife.
My wife joined a Crossfit gym in Warsaw called CrossFit Ad Alta. It’s run by an American couple so they instruct classes in English unlike some of the other places in Warsaw where it’s strictly in Polish. We strolled into the place and already I’m thinking to myself “You call this place a gym” It looked like a garage with funny props we use to use in elementary school like skipping ropes and medicine balls. One of the owners/instructors greeted me and looked happy to have a new potential member. After some brief questions about my workout history he said with a sly smile “Oh boy well you’ll enjoy this”…….
Keep the blue side up.
