Welcome to Dumbbell Daddies.
Thanks for stopping by. This website is over 10 years in the making but never really materialized until just recently. The words POT BELLY are what really put this blog into motion! As a
soon to be new dad someone just recently told me:
“Good luck with your diet and exercise thing, when the kids come you’ll have a pot belly like the rest of us in no time!”
As someone who was once 285 lbs that really struck a chord. I figured there’s a lot of guys in my age group that are new dads and are going through similar life changes as I am.
The main goal of this website is and always will be to help people. Within the walls of this website you’ll find a layman’s guide to health and fitness. No crazy big science terms or complicated explanations that the average person’s never heard of. Let’s face it, it’s a struggle nowadays to find a balance between family, work and staying healthy and fit. By occasionally peeking into my everyday life I’m hoping to show other dudes out there that you don’t need to be rich, a professional athlete or have freaky genetics to be in shape or live a healthy and balanced life.
I would call this website a success even if one person said to themselves:
“Hey, this guy is in decent shape and he’s just like me. Likes to drink beer, has a job, a family and a mortgage. Maybe I can get back into shape too”
I’m hoping this website serves as a FREE resource for the average dad to stay motivated, stay active and stay healthy.

So if you made it this far you probably want to know who the hell I am.
I am not a doctor, scientist or professional athlete of any sorts. I don’t have a New York Times best selling weight loss book and I’ll never be shirtless on the cover of Men’s Health either (they’d never sell a bloody copy anyways!)
I’m Joe. Just a typical guy with typical life commitments, balancing family, work, health and fitness.
I lost over 100 lbs almost 15 years ago and kept it off. Today I still have a passion for everything fitness, eating clean and living healthy. I make a living as an airline pilot. If I’m not annoying my beautiful wife you can usually find me hanging out with my family, cooking, travelling, playing sports, smashing the odd pint, investing, grunting in the gym (not like a CrossFitter though), or hanging out with our huge dog Harvey.
Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you enjoy reading this website as much as I enjoy creating it.
Keep the blue side up.
